There is no question too big or too small for our team. Below are some answers to our most common questions.
ZumiVet is a mobile veterinary service providing in-home veterinary care throughout San Diego.
Instead of traveling to a clinic, your pet is examined in a familiar, low-stress environment while you remain present throughout the visit. Appointments are longer than traditional clinics, allowing for a more thorough exam, thoughtful discussion, and a personalized care plan.
From preventive care to sick visits and chronic disease management, we provide comprehensive veterinary care with a focus on comfort, convenience, and a better overall experience for both you and your pet.
Request an appointment online using our Book an Appointment form, or call or text us for faster scheduling.
We’ll coordinate a time that works best for you and follow up promptly to confirm all details for your visit.
ZumiVet provides a premium, in-home veterinary experience designed for convenience, comfort, and personalized care.
Doctor visits include a house call (travel) fee and an exam fee, with additional services priced individually based on your pet’s needs. We also offer technician appointments for select services, which can be a more cost-effective option for ongoing care.

ZumiVet is a great fit for:
- Busy professionals who value convenience
- Multi-pet households
- Pet owners with limited mobility
- Senior pets or pets with mobility challenges
- Pets who are fearful of car rides or traditional clinic visits
- Anyone looking for a more personalized, low-stress veterinary experience
Most visits take place inside your home, where pets are most comfortable and experience the least stress.
If needed, we can also perform parts of the visit in our fully equipped mobile veterinary van. We’ll work with you to choose the setup that’s safest and most comfortable for your pet.
To help ensure a smooth, low-stress visit:
- Complete the new client questionnaire in advance
- Let us know if your pet may benefit from pre-visit calming medication—we’ll guide you
- Have your pet hungry and bring their favorite treats
- Gather or submit any previous medical records if available
- For cats: please have them in a carrier or confined to a small room so we can safely begin the exam

We provide care for dogs and cats.
ZumiVet does not perform surgeries in the home.
For procedures requiring anesthesia—such as dental cleanings (COHAT) or minor surgical procedures—Dr. McCalley performs these at a trusted local veterinary facility in a fully equipped, controlled environment.
We manage the entire process for you, including pre-anesthetic evaluation, procedure planning, and post-procedure follow-up care.
If advanced or specialty surgery is needed, we will guide you to a trusted specialist and coordinate next steps.
ZumiVet is not an emergency service. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, please go directly to the nearest emergency hospital.
Signs that require urgent evaluation include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Collapse, seizures, or loss of consciousness
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Severe trauma (hit by car, fall, dog fight)
- Inability to stand or walk
- Repeated vomiting or diarrhea with lethargy
- Straining to urinate (especially in male cats or dogs)
- Known or suspected toxin ingestion
If you’re unsure, you’re always welcome to call or text us—we’re happy to help guide you.
